Scented Slime Putty

Updated: Dec 31, 2019

Ok so the kids absolutely love slime but as a mom, I do not love it! The stuff you buy in the stores is loaded with chemicals and it is sticky and yucky and it gets everywhere. This is why I came up with a simple slime PUTTY that doesn’t stick to everything...

Basic Slime Recipe with Saline Solution

5 oz. Elmer's white glue *non toxic formula

1/2 cup Warm water *leave this out to make it a putty that is not sticky

1/2 tsp. Baking soda

1-2 Tbsp. Saline solution

Optional: Food coloring *use a natural food coloring or just use fine glitter

2-6 drops of essential oil, only 2-3 if using a citrus oil.

In a small bowl, pour out 5 oz of Elmer's white glue.

*skip this if making the putty version....... Add ½ cup of water and stir until the glue and water are fully mixed together.

If you would like to color your slime, add a few drops of food coloring. You can also use paint, soap colorants or pigments.

Add ½ tsp baking soda and stir. This will help determine your slime’s thickness.

Add your essential oils now.

Add 1 tbsp of saline solution. Stir quickly. The slime will begin to form and pull away from the sides of the bowl. The saline solution will determine your slime’s stickiness.

Once the slime has pulled away from the sides of the bowl, knead it for a few minutes. It will still be sticky at first. Add a little more Saline 1 Tbsp. at a time, if you need it.

Store in an airtight container.

Putty is like bubblegum, it will need to be kneaded and played with to become stretchy like slime. My kids love it! Enjoy.
